It is located in a valley at 500 to 1100m altitude in the German Alps and surrounded by a mountain called Untersberg. It is famous for the salt mines and the production of table salt guaranteed it income in the medieval ages. No visit is complete here without a trip down the salt mines.

The town made famous in recent history as a summer getaway place for Adolf Hitler. He had a complex built at the very top of a peak and was used a few times a year. It is most widely known as Kehlsteinhaus or The Eagle’s Nest. I would say a town to see in the Bavarian mountains and enjoy the salt mines for sure.

This proved to be one of the popular places to visit for tourists that come across to Budapest from all over the world. Memento Park is not about Communism itself, but the fall of Communism! I won’t talk much about this, the photos should give you an idea of what to expect should you decide to waste half a day heading there. Basically if you are in Budapest and have half a day to waste, you can take a bus ride to this park to see the gigantic monuments from the age of Communism.

A short stop in the Gdańsk Bay to visit some good friends, I had to take some photos but these are by no means representative of how beautiful this area is. I will leave you with these photos for now and will revisit the area for some more. If you happen to visit the area before me, make sure to make it to Gdańsk and the banks of the Motlawa River, the Long Street, the Town Hall, the Harbor Crane, St Catherine’s Church, the Sopot Beach, Sopot Monte Cassino, and the Gdynia Oceanographic Museum and Sea Aquarium (Muzeum Oceanograficzne i Akwarium Morskie).

A big city with a friendly atmosphere, a place for the past to be treasured and the new to be embraced. The magic of Budapest makes it one of the most enjoyable European cities and ranked as the most livable city in Central Europe. The stunning architecture and wonderful views on banks of the Danube makes this city one with an irresistible charm. Budapest is considered as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The city houses a few World Heritage Sites, namely the banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter, Andrássy Avenue and the Millennium Underground railway. The first settlement in the city was Ak-Ink. It was build by the Celts before 1AD. Currently the ethnic groups residing the city are  Hungarians, Germans, Roma, Slovaks and Greeks.

Budapest has 23 districts in total; 6 are located in Buda, 16 in Pest and 1 on the Csepel Island between them. The largest medicinal bath in Europe, Széchenyi Medicinal Bath, is also located in the city.  The third largest church in Europe, Esztergom Basilica, is only 45 km away from Budapest. The first underground railway in Europe was built in Budapest, which is known as the Millennium Underground railway. A major attraction of the city is the 80 geothermal springs. Budapest also has the world’s largest thermal water cave system, second largest synagogue and third largest Parliament building. I think I will leave you with the photos for now :)
