How would you feel about taking a gondola ride back in time? All you need to do is just head over to the magical city of Venice. Venice, or Venezia in Italian, is unique in that it is built on 118 islands in the Venetian Lagoon. The islands are separated by canals which act as the “streets” instead of concrete. The main thoroughfare is the Grand Canal, reflecting the glories of Venetian architecture lining its banks. The entire city of Venice is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a place so visibly tethered to its past yet still setting new trends all around. While the city attracts tourists year round, the summer is the worst time to visit. I would highly recommend a trip towards the autumn or early spring.
